On the contrary..
It is about the institution making responsible decisions so that protect everyone equally, and to keep them to the standards they preach. This is not on the shoulders of individual parents and children skipping events to keep safe. The events should not go. Every meeting now is a chance for someone getting it Why risk lives over concerts, games, clubs and PTA..
Who’s job is to protect students??? Who gets paid for this, who is responsible.

Fun to do outdoor Ed, but maybe not worth the risk for elderly grandparents who might live with them.
There was a stomach bug outbreak at OE the year before my DD went. The staff were insane with the hand sanitizer and not sharing water bottles when it was DD’s turn.

Our middle school is still scheduled to have outdoor ed next week. 24 kids in a single room, sharing a bathroom! Gross under the best of circumstances.

All-county band/orchestra was in January/February. The top PP was referring to all-state band/orchestra/chorus, which has been cancelled.
OK, that makes sense. The first PP upthread who brought up band festivals was referring to the county ones next week, and I didn't realize we'd moved to something different here.
One is the county festival/adjudication, one is honors/all-state. All-state honors have been cancelled, but as of 3/10 county festivals are still on, as I understand it. Guess it's travel outside the county that was the concern. Or, more likely, parents in unaffected parts of the state didn't want their kids mixing with potentially-infected MoCo kids.

Well, not really. Because the point isn't that we're concerned for our individual children or our own selves or families, but we are concerned about the community impact. Kids seem to be carriers for the most part. The point of social distancing isn't to protect our own children, but to slow and mitigate the impact on our healthcare system.
I get what you're saying, but this is one of those cases where the individualist "if you don't like it, don't do it" doesn't apply very well. A communitarian approach makes more sense.
If enough people agree with you, there will be no meeting.

Well, not really. Because the point isn't that we're concerned for our individual children or our own selves or families, but we are concerned about the community impact. Kids seem to be carriers for the most part. The point of social distancing isn't to protect our own children, but to slow and mitigate the impact on our healthcare system.
