Yep this. The safest place for cats is indoors. You are stupid to let your cat roam. It's also cheaper to have a non-roaming cat as there are fewer shots needed nor any flea preventative. It's also better for birds. I acquired one of my cats when its stupid former owner let a 20 year old deaf cat roam! It looked terrible due to age and I assumed it was homeless. This was in an area of other community cats. You don't let a three year old out roaming because it's more interesting outside do you? Ugh. I hate people like you. AN otherwise educated person on my neighborhood listserv recently gave away a fancy automatic litter box because she said her cat had decided to become an outdoor cat. No her cat did not decide that.
