I had a cat that was given to me when the cat was an adult. He was neutered (I think when he was already a couple of years old) but would spray the entry if he wasn't let out. He liked sleeping on the neighbor's porch and the neighbor eventually kept him.

If your cat roams, that's the risk you take.

I would keep the cat inside. As a kid, one of my cats was killed by a stray dog. It was horrible.

I now own a dog (with a strong prey drive), and often see people letting their cats out on their porch in my neighborhood. I just don't get it, since dogs getting loose in our neighborhood is not unheard of.

This is why our cats stay indoors or on a screened porch.

I don?t know why you?re complaining. Someone cares about your cat and texts you if she doesn?t see him as usual or feels he may vet care. Keep the cat at home if you don?t like it. Since it sounds like she cares about his health, explain that the vet wants the cat to lose weight.

She shouldn't be feeding the cat. Next time you see her tell her that the vet said your cat is overweight, and "I don't know if you give her treats or food or anything, but if you did in the past could you please not from now on? I'm supposed to monitor her diet carefully so she can be healthy and live long."

Are you super attached to this cat? If not, would you consider formally giving the cat to your neighbor? If you are, there's not much you can do to keep the cat from spending time with her!

If your cat goes outside, what do you want.

Yep this. The safest place for cats is indoors. You are stupid to let your cat roam. It's also cheaper to have a non-roaming cat as there are fewer shots needed nor any flea preventative. It's also better for birds. I acquired one of my cats when its stupid former owner let a 20 year old deaf cat roam! It looked terrible due to age and I assumed it was homeless. This was in an area of other community cats. You don't let a three year old out roaming because it's more interesting outside do you? Ugh. I hate people like you. My neighbors cat would come over to get pets from me because they let her out and ignored her. Better than getting run over or attacked by a dog or fox.

Much, much worse happens to outdoor cats. Be grateful.

Yeah, we had an indoor/outdoor cat with a side chick. We decided to keep him indoors after the crazy woman took him to the vet because she thought he was sick. He was not and she wanted us to reimburse her. We made sure she never saw him again.
