If it was rampant with a 20% hospitalization rate and a 2-4% death rate, the hospitals would already be overwhelmed with cases and we would be hearing about the slew of deaths and anecdotal stories from the families of all those hospitalized and dying.
It takes 3-4 weeks for symptoms to get bad enough for people to show up at the hospital. Wait a week or two.
The current mean time from first symptom to hospitalization is 7 days.
