PP here. An evite also spares kids from disappointment.

I still remember when my preschooler came back home sad when she did not get the fancy invitation to Larlo's birthday party. It was just her and 3 other kids among 20 kids who did not get the invite. Apparently mom had told him he could invite whoever he wanted (age 4) and he put the cards in the cubbies of the kids he wanted to invite. My DD usually played with the girls and not boys then, and was sad when the other girls she played with were invited and she was not.

Not really. It saves time, paper. You can personalize it to look fancy if you wish. Unless it is a formal event like a wedding, why take on the added work of getting invitation cards, filling them in, putting them in backpacks or cubbies, and wondering if they made it to the recipient.

I have one kid we invited and I sent it to both parents and they both didn’t open the evite. I’m fine with the kids not coming. It is just so rude not to even open the invitation to see the details. I see the family everywhere. They are very involved parents. I’m trying not to take it personally.

I also remove non-responders from the evite after the rsvp date has passed. This has been controversial on DCUM though I’m not sure why. I send the evites 3-4 weeks out with rsvp date clearly stated. Evite sends a reminder 2 weeks out, rsvp date is one week out; midway through that week I send a personal (non evite) email or text to non-responders reminding them I need a response by the rsvp date. I allow a grace period of a day or so past the rsvp date, then I go in and delete non-responders from the evite. Nobody is too busy to click a button; it takes a second or two. Stop calling hosts rude for “uninviting” you when you’re the one who is too flaky, rude or disorganized to reply to invitations. You aren’t any busier than anybody else.

What are you all talking about. They show up, ‘oh we never heard from you so assumed you weren’t coming, no more space’. I bet they think twice about letting you know next time

Who cares if they know? It doesn't sound like they care or they would have responded.

That is a great idea. I am so sick of people waiting until the last second to RSVP yes or just showing up without notice and then having to scramble trying to get extra food and communicate with the venue. It is so rude of them.
