I think she should get at least whatever she would have been entitled to had they divorced.

Not if it was property he bought plus paid off pre-marriage and it was in his name. Considering that he was 40 when they married, he was with a prio ex-wife for 17 years, and he already had 4 other children - it’s highly likely.

They were together almost 30 years. Seems very unlikely that they bought nothing and he made no money during that time. I agree what he had pre-marriage (which I would think would have been the bulk of his earnings) should not be hers.

Sure - money she’s entitled to. It’s already clear he had $5 million to divide between six kids and three ex-wives (if she can claim it so can the others - 2 of the excluded kids already filed a lawsuit).

As for the home - their joint property is listed for sale for $12.5 million and has been on the market for over a year. Don’t know what the deal is there.

You cannot disinherit a spouse. So she will get an elective amount. I watched the CBS SM segment with her this morning and found her very sympathetic.

Apparently you can. They were legally separated for more than a year and she was out living with a boyfriend in Miami.

Loud and wrong. They would have to show abandonment and that will be hard to do considering she lived in the damn house with him.

She lived in Miami with her boyfriend until at least June 2019.

She and the husband separated in 2018. He didn’t get sick thanks to surgery (and she moved back in) until September 2019.

He updated the will before she came back to take care of him. Guess he didn't think of it while he was dying.

He also cut out of 2 of his 6 kids for some reason...

His kids with her?

No, from a previous marriage

I would imagine that if they had been legally separated for over a year and she was off living with another man that might have something to do with why Ric rewrote his will to exclude her.

She's never elaborated on what type of surgery he had, that I'm aware of, but she has said that it was unrelated to his death which was completely unexpected but due to natural causes. I don't get the sense that they were reconciling, she was just popping by to check on him.

I don't know if they had already divided their marital assets during their separation agreement, not sure how that works. You would think that she would at least be entitled to whatever she would have received when their divorce was finalized. He clearly had decided that she wasn't entitled to his share of the assets which seems fair to me. Most people don't leave everything to their exes.

I think it’s moreso that the women don’t have they funds to go somewhere else and live the same lifestyle. Most of these men probably keep their money separate so the women don’t have large amounts of their own money.

She said in her interview that the age difference became too much as they got older. He didn’t want to put effort into the marriage. She was 20 and he was 40 when they married.

The men could just as easily move out. If the men want the divorce, they will move out. If the women want it, they will. If she was married that long and took care of him, she should get it.
