A complicating factor in all of this is medical resources. The more drawn out the expansion of COVID-19 (the slower the transmission rate), the better the load on limited medical resources. It appears that China was able to rapidly expand resources but that doesn't seem possible in the US -- there are a limited number of beds and respirators and not a lot of local level ability to rapidly expand.

Except that the age is skewed high and SES is wealthy.

Not a good sample to be broadly meaningful. Maybe good for the next afflicted cruise ship though.
