+1 Environmental Sciences and Biology are strong there. Undergrads get to do actual research with professors. Beautiful campus. Small, caring community.


+2 my introverted DD is having a great experience at SMCM as a Bio major. Lots of opportunities to get involved with interesting research. Being right on the river is wonderful.

Goodness, please take your daughter to see a few local campuses so she gets a feeling for large vs small and city vs suburban.

It’s not like shy kids automatically like a certain kind of school. This is more complicated than that. Just look at the thread on College Confidential where parents share the reactions to visits that their kids have. Sometimes, a school that looks awesome on paper just doesn’t feel right when they visit it.
