OP doesn’t have to use a lottery sport for her IB (Thomas) as she can always apply afterwards. I’d def add Inspired. I’m curious what schools in DC are not play based though. She lists Appletree in her original list. I know some mention that AT is not as play based but I hear good things about it and it’s a relatively good safety school.

Op, definitely add AT OK Ave-it’s very close to Two Rivers Young. I have friends who are very happy with ECE at Miner.

I was coming here to say this. Both schools took OOB kids off the WL, as did Tyler, which you might also consider. Only Brent, Maury, LT and Peabody are entirely/definitely wasted spots on the Hill.

I’d add Appletree Lincoln Park, any of the KIPP preKs (KIPPs preK classsrom uses Appletree Every Child Ready model and are really very good), any AppleTree near my job

I’m of the opinion that you should rank a full 12, even if you’re only 5% sure you’d send your kid to your 12th choice. It doesn’t cost you anything and it keeps your options more open. You’ve said you haven’t had time to research, and this will give you time to do so. Plus, you may feel differently once your get your lottery results.

I was horrified by what I saw on the tour for Stokes EE. It did not seem like a safe place for children.

OP here. Thanks for the SWS rec. I was under the mistaken impression that the swing space hadn't been settled yet, but Carver Langston is convenient for us. We'll be crossing the river on Benning Road.

And, ugh, commuting to Columbia Heights is not ideal. Thanks for the heads up.
