I hate clamshell suitcases. There never is anywhere good to put them in a hotel. And I am not unpacking for a night or two. But so hard to access both sides.

I have hard sided Tumi. I have had them for about 18 months. The large suitcase that gets checked looks like total crap. So beat up. I would do soft side for anything you are going to check.

I always had soft but changed to hard. Hard is way better. I like packing it more with the two sides.
