I'm an Elizabeth who goes by Liz, but when I was younger (think elementary school) there were so many Elizabeth's that having the nn was just easier. Liz was the easiest nickname for my then-toddler brother to pronounce so here I am. All that to say that I think trying to come up with a nickname before the child is born is pointless. I think the best nicknames come naturally or have some sort of funny story behind them. And if they don't, then you chose a name you liked for the actual name and the nickname doesn't matter. Olivia is also a pretty name. I don't think you could go wrong with either. But don't force a nickname before you've met the child.

Both good, both pretty popular. I lean toward Elizabeth because even though they're both classic names Olivia had a huge spike in the last decade or so, so it will be associated with a trend. Also Elizabeth has so many great nicknames (Betsy is a personal fave).

Either, with Liz or Liv as nicknames.

I love the name Elizabeth and like the nickname Libby. Olivia is fine, but Elizabeth feels fresher.

LOL. Shakespeare had a character named Olivia. You can’t get much more classic than that!

Names are very different. Elizabeth is a classic name. Olivia is a trendy name that’s fading fast. But really if you are going to call your kid Lizzie just name her that. Libby or whatever.
