This pp posts this in every Florida thread. He/she can keep their eye-there are plenty of other people who have moved to Florida and love it!

We have a winter home in the old part of Naples right near the beach. It is beautiful with amazing sunsets almost every evening. It’s a very moneyed town and while some exhibit it obnoxiously most people are pretty laid back midwesteners. I’m a moderate dem and I’m in the minority but it’s rare when I run into a hard core MAGA person. Up and down the gulf coast of Florida are wonderful small towns. I’d avoid the southeast coast as it is overrun and crowded. And avoid July through September although DC is August is pretty awful too.

Very liberal. I felt comfortable in St Johns and in St Augustine. I would not want to live in Jacksonville.

NP. Thanks! We are actively looking to return to Florida! We have lived in Tampa and Fort Lauderdale, but want to be north of Orlando this time, or just south in Winter Haven/Lakeland.

Also planning on Florida. I really want a walkable community. We have a beach condo in Delaware and not sure about keeping it. We’re a few years behind you but not many. I don’t know where in Florida - probably gulf side.

I was under the impression that Mayo only takes Medicare in Minnesota, not in their Florida or Arizona locations. Is this incorrect?

I want to retire in the DMV. There is so much to do here and great doctors and hospitals. We will sell and move into a small condo. I’d hate living in NC or FL.

I would love to live in the Charleston area!! so beautiful!

We moved South, and, if you stay well north of around, say, Orlando, I would describe the seasons are more like 6 months of summer and 6 months of fall/spring, with the odd "winter" day thrown in. I'm sitting on my front porch right now, it was a beautiful day, but it's getting a little chilly as the sun goes down. It's actually really nice if you have the means to get away during the two hottest months of the summer.

If you want something more like 4 seasons with a shorter winter, I'd look in the mountains around Asheville or Highlands, or even north Georgia (it's snowing in Atlanta today!).

We love Winston-Salem, NC and will retire there one day.
