Subject: Instrument in 6th grade
Op here. Thank you for all your responses. It’s a shame that expectations seem to be inconsistent from school to school but getting some lessons now seems to be a great idea!

Even if true, if you start lessons now, it will be 7 months and probably good enough

Not at TPMS. Beginner band means just that. 6th grade band means some experience playing an instrument OR can read music.
