This is why you make your plans, then issue invitations. Don't talk about possibilities and plans, or you get these kind of curveballs.

But yes, I would change in this case.

And next time, make your plans, but keep your mouth shut during the planning process!

To me, this seems like much more trouble than moving the date of a party that hasn't even been set yet. I would do it; it's not a big deal at all and makes birthday kid happy with no reason not to.

if you've told other people the date, then no. One of DD's friends rescheduled for a date she knew 2 others could attend,but knew DD was unavailable. It stung.

With my DD, I always check with her two best friends ahead of time. DS doesn't have any best friends so we just hope for the best. I don't know why you wouldn't change it given your set of facts.

Happened to us, we didn't change dates, because of logistics. We just had another small playdate birthday 'party' with some cupcakes.

This is what we always do. Just have a family only celebration on the actual birthday.
