My grandmother's sister got pregnant and carried to term at 47, her 6th child. That's the oldest spontaneous pregnancy I have ever heard of.

I'm 49, having very regular periods. Not trying to get pregnant. Unprotected weekly or fortnightly sex for last 5 years, have not gotten pregnant.

You can. Watch out, though, because it most likely would be abnormal. You don’t want to have to deal with that. Especially now.

There's just enough of a chance for it to be annoying if you're trying to plan otherwise.

I have been pregnant twice at 43 (but both ended in miscarriage)... still it's not 50 so I don't know but I would say not out of the realm of possibility

Didn't Madonna get pregnant at 50? We always use condoms even though it seems unlikely I'd get pregnant (we could probably use them a little more stringently but we do use them). Still, don't wanna have another baby if I can help it.

I know a 51 yo friend of a friend who got pregnant last year and terminated.

First try for 47-year year old friend who used donor egg. Gorgeous healthy baby girl who looks exactly like her father (52) .

I've only known one person who got pregnant the old fashioned way at 50 -- my friend's mom. Her other 2 daughters were already in their late 20s. She terminated asap.

The total number of induced abortions during the period was 17,869 with 31 patients 45-51 years of age. There were 4 patients 48-49 years of age and 1 patient 51 years.

Ordinarily I'd tell you no. But the thing is that last month I got randomly pregnant. I'm 47. Three kids, two through IVF. I thought my train has left the station. But apparently not. If you don't want children and find the idea of termination unacceptable, I learned through experience to use protection. Sorry.

Debbie downer posted above. Having regular periods most certainly is positive and definitely cannot be taken for granted. Despite chronological age, we are not all the same age biologically. My Ob-gyn has delivered healthy babies for women up to 52 years old. All AMA mothers do not post here.
