Why is he so critical? Why are you so paranoid? This is a very strange dynamic. I’d be annoyed at the comments and would probably childishly react by talking on the phone/watching tv more often, esp when he was coming home.

He’s not your boss, bottom line. I’m a grown person and I get to manage my own time when I’m not at work, unless and until it is to the detriment of my family. He is being contemptuous, low key controlling, and rude.
