If it has as a 3 in front of it, it is a B (albeit a high B).

Would you consider a 3.9 weighted a B student? Does it matter how incredibly hard the class schedule was?

My kid with a 3.6 weighted got into Wooster (33K merit), Susquehanna (37K merit), Duquesne (15K merit), George Mason, Ohio University and Kent State (some merit - forgot the amount).

Look at lists like "A+ Colleges for B students"

We liked several of the "colleges that change lives list."
They offer lots of individual attention, and many give generous merit aid to kids with strong but not stellar grades.

My B student got into:

James Madison
Pitt
Temple
FSU
VCU

He is also a minority so that could help, right?

Thanks for this! I had a friend go here back when it was called Western MD College.

I definitely will get some SAT tutoring. His grandfather offered to help pay for it. I went to Loyola in MD so that’s on my list. Thanks for the suggestions everyone. I don’t know if accommodations will help since he tends to do better on standardized testing than his grades.

OP, you are going to want an affordable school. It will be worth your while for your son to take an $800 SAT or ACT class to prepare. Does he receive any accommodations for ADHD? The right SAT score could get him some merit money.

I've heard that Towson and Mount St. Mary's have excellent disability services. Both offer merit aid as well. Again, your kid has to study for the tests.

You might also consider Loyola of Maryland.

OP, instead of believing this nasty post, I suggest you search for other threads on DCUM about CTCL. No need to rehash here what has already been discussed ad nauseum by proponents and opponents of those colleges and the types of students who actually attend them

Check out Colleges that Change Lives. It's a book about overpriced second tier colleges for B students for parents who wish their kids could get into top schools but can't. DCUM families drool over the book . . .

Take a look at rank lists of Catholic colleges. Coming from a Catholic high school might give him more wiggle room on that list.
