Princess Leia is NOT a Disney Princess. Nice try though.

Neither is Elsa, technically, but half the kids will probably dress like her and nobody would tell them they aren’t a “Disney princess”. They’re both part of a Disney owned franchise so what’s the point of you being so snarky about “official” Disney princess status?

Can I play at your house?

Just let her wear pants and tell everyone she's Princess Penelope Pineapple from Princesses Wear Pants.

Both? I have 2 boys. I would love to have her be a princess! Maybe it is because she has brothers but she just isn’t interested in princesses or baby dolls and many other girly things.

She has dresses but it is very hard to get her to wear one.

I was the same way. I had 3 brothers and refused to wear uncomfortable girls clothes if they didn't have to. Crushed my dear mum.

Don’t make the poor child dress like a princess if she doesn’t want to!

If she doesn't want to wear a dress I wouldn't force it. I'd tell her "kids are invited to wear dresses, if you'd like you could wear one", and if she said she would I'd figure something out, but if she said she wanted to wear regular clothing I'd let her.

You could get her some fairy/butterfly wings and a magic wand. I like the unicorn idea, too. Lots of ways to costume her that princess adjacent!

Oh and if she doesn't want to wear it to the party, don't force it. She can wear what she wants but bring it with you so if she wants to dress like the other girls she has the option there. Treat it like a costume.

You're overthinking it. Wear a pretty dress. We are going to a princess party and my 4 year old has never seen any Disney and knows nothing of cartoon princesses. She knows what a princess is (a daughter of a king) from some books and will wear a twirly dress (with tulle) that we have since she likes it.

My DS had a superhero party and no one cared if the kids were/were not wearing superhero costumes.

Just don't worry about it! My DD isn't into princesses either, but does enjoy dressing up. Now she is 6, most of her friends still love princesses and at the most recent dress-up party (Frozen theme) she went as Hermione Granger and everyone else was a princess, most of them Elsa. No one cared.
