He picked it up immediately and didn't have any pee accidents. He pooped twice on the floor the first or second day. A few days in he was walking himself to the bathroom to pee. I didn't use any treats besides praise.
He wore trainers at night for a couple months but I don't remember him having many accidents at night.
He was ready.
When I hear friends talking about spending months training and dealing with accidents, etc., to train their 18 or 24 or even 30 month olds, I'm so glad I waited. By 3yo, diaper changing is so easy (standing up on the go! One solid poop a day!) that it didn't feel like a big deal to keep him in a diaper for a few extra months.
Not all of us have some huge struggle training 18-24 month olds. Don’t be so smug. Most of us easily trained and you’re only hearing from the hard to train ones. Also, a lot of people are just saying they had trouble to commiserate with you. My DS trained himself before 2 and I never told anyone that in real life

Anonymous wrote:So no one potty trained a three-year-old in one day?

She could also use a pull up when we left house if she choose. Child wore pull-ups at school and nothing at home most days. One day she said she was done with pull ups. And she was. We still prompt bathroom breaks while in public but more often she cues us.
Well, that’s pretty much to opposite of “trained in one day”.
We never really formally trained. It was always her choice. I didn’t care when it happened. Figured she’d get it in time.
That’s sweet. However totally irrelevant to the question asked!
God, I love DCUM.

And she now attends an Ivy!
