We are currently enrolled at Penn Quarter KinderCare and love it! We were originally enrolled at PQ pre-pandemic. We were both nervous to bring our kids back this Spring 2021. We spoke with the Directors they both calmed our nerves we returned and are having a great experience. Our kids love it there and the teachers really tend to their needs. We love all of the pictures and updates that we get as well. The new director has made a lot of improvements as well.

I thought the building looks beautiful and I like the idea that people can see in a little bit.
If DCPS doesn't get back to me soon, I might apply to work there.

A family member was watching our son and took him to Guy Mason to go play on the playground. Our relative witnessed A LOT of questionable issues with the Kindercare kids and their caregivers:

-The playground is not fenced in. Very young kids were wandering all over the area.
-Caregivers were distracted on their phones and chatting with each other in small groups.
-A very young child (under 2 years?) fell off playground equipment and was crying on the ground. No teachers noticed this. A slightly older child who could already speak walked 100+ feet to go notify one of the caregivers, who was busy chatting in a small group with other caregivers.

Additionally, we've noticed a lot of individuals with mental health issues hanging around the intersection and the bus stop right next to the windows of the center. The cars and busses pass literally 25 feet from the large windows of the building. We really don't like the exposure of the location and the fact that anyone on the sidewalk can look in at all the children.

Hard pass. We are willing to drive to Tenley or into downtown DC for more competent care at a significantly lower price.

After several incidents at the center, including one in which she directed teachers to feed ice cream (an allergen) to infants without the knowledge or approval of families, causing one infant to suffer an allergic reaction--and then lied about it--we decided we couldn't entrust our child in her care and quickly withdrew. She never admitted culpability for the incident, despite multiple teachers separately recounting the same set of facts.

She will never admit when she's wrong, and unfortunately, Kindercare management who are well aware of Stephanie's many shortcomings refuse to hold her accountable because--as was explained to us--it's so difficult to find and keep people in these roles. Regrettably, some of the best teachers we've had in a daycare setting left Penn Quarter Kindercare because of the toxic, unprofessional, and vindictive behavior Stephanie directed toward them.

Obviously, you'll make your own decisions about whether to consider enrolling here, and godspeed if you do. I'm sharing this so you have full awareness of what to expect.

Vindictive parent or employer. Which are you? Pretty sad. I hate people like you.

Oh hi Stephanie.

Neither, thankfully. Hate all you want. My post is intended for families who would rather avoid the nightmare experience we and other families have had. You can obviously choose to walk headfirst into that storm if you want, and I wish you and your child the very best of luck if you do.

As a parent, I'm glad people like you take the time to warn us.

+1

We love our Kindercare in the burbs. No way I’d be willing to pay that much.

With the way things are going they will probably need to reduce the rate
