This is completely off-topic (I used to read Dooce, have not for years, just looked again and didn't understand WTH she was talking about...) Anyway, a play cafe is where you can go hang out and get coffee with a friend while your young kids play nearby. I used to live in Charlottesville and there's one there, C'Ville Coffee (or at least there was). My kids are now 11 and 8 but back when they were preschool/toddler age I was really bummed there was nowhere around here I could go meet with a friend to chat while they entertained themselves (I live in Arlington, but looked around DC and Alexandria and didn't find anything there).
