People of Miami, do not...DO NOT call sears to clean your air ducts. That $99 they're offering is for them to drive to your house. Afterwards, it raises to $2k-$3k-$4k and my last client told me they charged her and her husband $5600!! This was July 22,2023

Everyone I have spoken to has had the same complaints. Not only does 'sears' find mold in your AC unit, they will insist you get it cleaned out and tell you to get your credit card ready.

They will call their 'supervisor' and that's another scam as well as he insists you pay this upfront and not in installments!! They'll insist you add in the UV light that is supposed to kill the mold and stop anything else from growing in the vents,

they'll spray the vents white to make it look clean as well. Pfffft!! We're still coughing , my daughter and myself ended up in urgent care, TWICE!! There is a funny smell now when the AC comes on. I keep

changing the filters every 3 weeks and it's still smells weird! Unfortunately, I didn't know any better and believed they were being honest. Well, lesson learned the hard out of pocket way...

If this review can prevent anyone else from falling prey to that lie of $99 air duct cleaning, then I've done my part. If they don't clean that coil in the AC unit, then not only have you wasted your hard earned dollars but you've been outsmarted by a company that is only out to trick innocent customers who aren't aware of how AC units operate. I WANT MY REFUND!! Also, keep them out of your bathroom!!! Ughhhh!!



It is now January and I am still waiting for the manager to get back to me..

Had my heat pump replaced today and the owner (who is a personal friend) said our ducts were a mess and recommended Air Wiz in Germantown, MD. Not cheap ($488) but he said they are awesome (which is supported by the good reviews they get). That are also booking appointments for a month from now so I guess they have a loyal following...

It sounds like they may have damaged your ducts. If the electricity bill went up, it's probably because the furnace fan (for heating and cooling) and the condenser outside (for cooling) have to run harder and longer. The easiest thing to do is to look for damage to ducts where you can see them. If you see HVAC tape that's missing in the basement, apply that to any air gaps. If that doesn't help the energy bill then you're going to need to get a camera and inspect the ducts inside the walls to look for a broken one. You may be able to figure this out by feeling which room isn't heating/cooling like it was prior to them coming out. They may have also done something to the HVAC unit itself (though this is unlikely). You can get a professional HVAC company to take a look at it.

We got our ducts cleaned and sealed. The air was circulating very poorly so we tried it out. Glad we did. The ducts were disgusting. It wasn’t like they were dusty, more like decades of buildup of filth that was making it difficult for the air to circulate. The before and after photos of the ducts are quite something. Now our upstairs actually gets warm.

I had the same experience for Sear Duct Cleaning. The way they came and checked the HVAC system and said about the mold thing. I refused because was not prepared for the bill of 1140/- instead of $ 114/-. The most important thing to inform is after their visit, my electricity bill is doubled, For the last three years, my bills were consistent, but now I don't know what that guy has done to my system, my monthly electricity bills are too high. I wish someone can help me with that.

We moved a duct this week and the debris in there was crazy (we moved it for the hvac repair people so I know it was debris in there).

Our reno definitely left the duct a mess - I saw people sweep floor debris in floor vents!

I agree it's often a scam though and Sears subs it out.

Sears came to give us an estimate to replace deck doors. I think it was something insane like $18,000. Lowe's did it for $2800.

They also wanted to replace ONE window in a wall of windows. They didn't have anything that matched the others but said it wouldn't be odd to have one different window in wall of all windows. It was totally nuts how unprofessional they were.

You should have a furnace filter. That filter should be replaced when dirty. That filter should block most dust from getting through to the outgoing registers. Your intake vents are going to have massive amounts of dust because they suck air into them from your house's air. You can just vacuum those yourself if you want.

Exactly. You already self-identified as someone who is gullible and easy to scam.

Is this really a scam? Couldn’t it just be a liability issue? Mold is serious... I’m sure they’re trained to be extra cautious and err on the side of flagging possible mold, if only so they can’t be blamed later for spreading or missing it.

The truth is that there is no evidence that having your ducts professionally cleaned would make your air any cleaner than it is now. Actually, if you have already bought the product and don't like it, you can address the sears customer service and ask for refund. Anyway, it is very important to clen up the air ducts because over time the moisture will start to grow mold and mildew. Eventually people start getting sick because of that.

Air duct cleaning is always a scam. No one should be surprised they try to scam you further.

It is more about what your unit is putting out /not filtering. I replace duct work all of the time on jobs because it is just disgusting. No way would I want someone breathing that in.

I have experienced the same scram with Sears Air Duct cleaning located at 1325 Whitlock Ln, Suite 306, Carrollton, TX recently. The guy charged me $1,100.00 for an incomplete dirty job. DO NOT EVER DO BUSINESS with Sears Air Duct Cleaning.
