The Jack Evans “goodbye bill.” I’m suportive of LGBT issues but wonder why the city would gift $500k to the LGBT alliance while it screws over DC public students who would like to use the prime location Jelleff field because the city says we need the $95k that Maret will pay for exclusive use of the field by its private school students.

At 4:36 pm, 24 minutes before his resignation would become official, Evans tried to slap a rainbow sticker on the end of his nearly 29-year D.C. Council tenure with a bill that would provide financial support for D.C.'s Pride celebration.

The "Capital Pride Alliance Grant and Equitable Forgiveness Amendment Act of 2020" would waive all city service fees for the Capital Pride Alliance in fiscal year 2021 and beyond.

The alliance organizes the District's Pride celebration, which includes a parade and a street festival. It also organizes Capital Trans Pride.

Evans' bill would also forgive the outstanding $121,056.76 owed to the Metropolitan Police Department for the 2019 festival, requires the District to refund any payments already made, and creates a $400,000 grant "to be used for expenses related to the 2020 Capital Pride Celebration and related Pride in the Nation's Capital events."

In 2010 his ward included all of Shaw. Lots of needy there.

You must not know much about Ward 2--it ranges from Georgetown to Logan Circle. If you think there are no poor people in there that could have used the $115,000 that was supposed to go to needy constituents, you must not know DC.

In the article about him in the Washington Post today, it said that in 2010, he used constituent funds intended to help the needy with electricity bills and rent to pay for sports tickets for himself and clients. How did he continue for a decade after that kind of malfeasance?
