Told my boss around 12 weeks. Never announced to anyone else, only told friends as it became obvious and I was seeing them. I haven't had any miscarriages but the announcement business seems unnecessary to me and possibly difficult for some to process, so we skipped it.

Op here, oh yes this one I know and take to heart. I have been on the sad end of too many "guess what we're pregnant!!" phone calls. I am always happy for them but the surprise of it can be hard.

told parents and MIL at 6weeks. If i had to do it again, would wait until 13 to tell MIL as she was so excited and would not have taken an early loss in her stride.

Everyone else, whenever we met them next socially or for long distance friends and family spoke over the phone , after about 13 weeks.

My parents knew at 4 weeks. We each told one or two friends around 12 week. His parents (loose lips) and everyone else at 22-28 weeks. Long time IVF so we’re very cautious. Also live outside of US so wasn’t obvious to friends and family in States and I actually wasn’t showing until about 5-6 months so was easy to keep private. Don’t do FB so no social media announcement.

OP here, thanks for the feedback everyone. I follow another board of ppl due to give birth around the same time as me, its helpful to read abt. ppl with similar symptoms/progress. In recent weeks its been full of folks sharing their SM announcements as they got their NIPT results and found out the baby's sex, including those who referenced their infertility journey. This may have skewed my view of what is typical.

We plan to do a birth announcement after the baby is born and I think posting an image of that online will be all I do. As for telling folks, I will do it as I see people but not before my next scan.

We told our families in a big way. I called my best friend. And then I just posted in on facebook so that everyone heard at the same time and it was out in the open. Then I didn't have to tell a million people over and over. To me, a low key facebook post is the easiest way.
