Well someone told me that coach had also gotten a red card and kicked out at nationals, but I wasn't there. I was at the Armory yesterday and saw yesterday's shenanigans. That coach wouldn't stop, got right in the ref's face, screaming, pushed him, swearing. The police eventually showed up, but he had already left.

They played very physical but not dirty at all. The referee was almost trying to level out the game by calling fouls against and carding DC Hyper. Bad officiating led to the game getting out of control. The referee had most likely never watched a team play that physical in futsal and honestly didn't know how call it. Very bad ending all because of the under qualified refereeing.

Tournament rules did not allow for ANY shoulder charges or slide tackling. You can't push an opponent. The rules basically eliminated physical play, so I don't think the refs were wrong here. DC Hyper came back from Spain where physicality is allowed, so they felt that they should follow Euro rules. They knew the tournament rules, they just felt like they were too soft and pushed the boundaries. Then they have the nerve to abuse the ref.

Bad officiating may have been a part of the debacle, but the team is a reflection of the club/coach. If the coach is as awful as suggested by the behavior, I would question what is being taught the kid. For all the talk about futsal being a technical sport, it seems that physicality still takes precedent.

My son has played for that coach. He is not dirty. He doesn’t teach dirty. He is a good guy who had a bad moment.

How was the quality of the play? Coaching? Any good teams? There were a lot of posts earlier about where to play futsal and Alexandria was an option. I believe people mentioned NPC. People were mentioning someone named "Gus". Were these teams in the tournament? If so, how did they do? I also heard that DC Hyper played in a futsal tournament in Spain recently. How did they look here? Thanks.
