Code § 24.2-233 states acceptable reasons for recall when it has "material adverse effect upon the conduct of the office" include:[2]
Neglect of duty
Misuse of office
Incompetence in the performance
Other acceptable reasons include:
Conviction of a misdemeanor relating to drugs
Conviction of a misdemeanor involving a "hate crime"
Northam has not been accused of any of those.
Its also not clear that the recall law even applies to Governors office.
He wiil be out of office in two years. He's done a good job in office in the last two years. I suspect the complaints about him from anon people here are more from people who want to stop the Dem leglislative agenda than from people who care about moondances.

Because - profoundly flawed as he may be or may have been or both - his performance has been verifiably focused on the protection of civil rights. Because as flawed as his expressions of contrition have been, his efforts at remedies have been sweeping and successful. Because he has not just met but has exceeded his promises on the way in. Because at least some of the calls for his resignation have been highly questionable, self-serving, and not credible.
Do I think he’s the second coming? Absolutely no. But he has been an excellent governor. And because there is NO way anyone can credibly claim that, whatever the Northam of 35 years ago was, it is the same Northam right now. It isn’t.
So, understanding the defects, the fact is that I not only support him but I respect the job he is doing, and I’m glad he’s doing it.
That's fine but then let's stop feigning outrage at blackface and other forms of "not a big deal in the grand scheme of things" racism.

I take it you’re not from Virginia.

That aside, if you think he should be recalled, go start the movement. What’s stopping you?
