I couldn't bring myself to admit DCUM. He asked for it to go into dinner rotation, though!

What is it?

She said sharp cheddar, pistachios, apples with a mustard vinaigrette. I did it over mixed greens and added roasted squash.

I just made it with a balsamic vinaigrette—what a great combination! Thanks for sharing.

I made rugelach for the first time on the suggestion of DCUM and it is amazing (absolutely true that it is so much better when fresh).

Someone suggested Mu Shu for an excess of cabbage and we’ve put it in the regular rotation. Bonus that my kids eat so many veggies in one sitting.

I made it for Christmas and thought it was excellent, though most of my family preferred our usual orange cheesecake, probably just because they are more familiar with it.

ha, that was me! Glad you enjoyed it! Ironically I was just thinking to myself it's time to retire it and I had the thought to move on to a cheesecake.

Thank you so much for posting it! I really thought it was lovely, especially given that there was enough leftover toffee sauce for ice cream later in the week. I made a special trip to Balduccis for the apple butter, and think that was definitely worth it.

Not sure if it is actually my sister (who did travel to the DMV with her family for the holidays this year) asking for the cheesecake recipe, or if we have some bizarro world doppelgängers, but here’s the recipe: https://www.myrecipes.com/recipe/blue-ribbon-orange-cheesecake

You can find it on Pinterest topped with whipped cream and chocolate, but that’s not right. It should be topped with the very finely grated peel from two oranges mixed with a tablespoon of sugar.

Just to confirm, sis, your family loved the gingerbread sticky toffee pudding but you should post the orange cheesecake recipe because it is unlike all other cheesecake recipes and somehow manages to be some sublime mix of orange mousse and cheesecake!!! And getting a bit of the pudding and the cheesecake on the same fork was definitely larger than the sum of its parts.

wait, is this really PP's family member?

Yes. My kids and husband do literally start wondering about the orange cheesecake around Thanksgiving when we travel to DC for Christmas with my sister. It is pretty amazing.

+1
It was a lot of work for muffins and pretty cakey. Next time I'll use up blueberries in a cobbler.
