I would have pronounced it as E-lissa.

If you said, “ Elissa”, I would expect that you were saying Alyssa and spell it that way. Poor kid will have to explain the name forever. If you saddle her with Elissa, at least train her to be gracious about the inevitable conversation. I had a unique last name prior to getting married, and it’s tiresome.

The Alyssa spelling feels very 80's to me, but at least is recognizable as a name and not a "felt like a great idea when I was pregnant" collection of letters.

Hi! I'm an Elissa. I've spent 33 years dealing with all of the different spellings and pronunciations and people mistaking my name for a different name (Elise, Allison, Melissa). I like being an Elissa, but be forewarned that it's a tougher name than it appears to be. (My daughter is getting a name with exactly one possible spelling!)

Different names, both trashy.

Elise and Alice are not trashy.

Work with an Elisa, no one says it right (people say Eee-Lisa).

No, it’s not.

I know several people with this name who spell it Alisa (pronounced Ah-lee-sa.) The double-s of your spelling would make me likely to pronounce it Eh-liss-ah or Ah-liss-ah. They're all fine names but if you want one or the other pronounciation, you should tailor the spelling accordingly.

It does to me as well. It has a made up vibe to it. Probably has something to do with the Y.
