Pay is the same, but that factors into what I am willing to pay and what my sister expects. She knows that she is extremely likely to have a few hours free to herself to do homework, watch TV, or text with friends. Most of the time she is getting her homework out of the way when we get home.

For her, it is a good deal because she is being paid to get her work done and we have a reliable sitter for a reasonable rate.

If I'm using one of my established sitters, the pay is the same. Sometimes I just get a sitter with a lower rate since all they're doing is sitting on my couch. I establish a relationship with at least two sitters for exactly this reason. My daughter doesn't require any check ins and if she's sick, I cancel my plans and stay home.

Pay is the same.

You are paying the sitter for her time.
Also when if one of your children woke up during the night from a bad dream or a loud noise?

When if there were an electrical short which resulted in a fire?
Or an intruder came by?
When if your house needed to be evacuated due to a neighborhood catastrophe??

My list could go on. And on.....

The sitter is fully liable for your kids.
Whether they are awake or asleep.
No exceptions!

This might be impossible for you to find but we’ve had some luck finding sitters willing to do household tasks once the kids are asleep. They are kinda like personal assistants. But that’s more of a regular arrangement, not a one-off thing.

Anonymous wrote:I’ve never used a babysitter before outside of family and friends so hope this question doesn’t sound silly. If we get a babysitter for night time dates - once babies are sleep is the pay still the same as earlier hours or could we request to pay a little less? My 2 kids are ALWAYS asleep by 8 and go through the night. We really just need someone at the home with them but there is nothing they would actually be doing.

If , once they are asleep, she can go out and party get drunk then you don't need to pay for this time BUT if you expect her to be available to take care of any emergency and she had to be present then you pay her hourly rate!
