Body shops often buy stolen parts after they have car in shop.

So someone may need a 2010 Audi front end

Also they look for color

My neighbors brand new blue Wrangler was towed out of spot to get to my four year old red wrangler

Cop told me if body shop needs and exact year model it is not age and color is a plus.

My red nose and red doors put in identical red wrangler big profit and no painting

If your mirror is one of those that has programmable buttons, they may have felt that it was a security concern, e.g. that the radio signal from the device in the mirror could be used to track the car.

One of the ones like one of these:

My friend woke up and went outside one morning to find his car on blocks with his tires and everything valuable under the hood stripped out.

Whoa that would be pretty wild to find (and must feel violating to have that done right outside your home)! Someone rummaged through our console one night and found nothing because it’s a boring minivan with nothing of value left in it. But still, it felt pretty creepy to know someone came up into our driveway at night.

Happened in NOVA in a very quiet residential area of SFHs. They can strip the car in less than 30 minutes and they are very quiet.
