It sounds like this company preys upon people with that mindset.

And that Pat Hynes and her colleagues were more committed to appearing environmentally conscious than allowing an auditor to investigate what appears to have been clear-cut fraud and waste within FCPS.

Shame on her. They need to clean house at FCPS, starting with Brabrand, Platenberg, and Foster.

Why is Brabrand included in this? All of this went down before he came on.

Because he’s also been a disaster at managing FCPS. Was there one time when he objected to wasteful school expansions or proactively addressed overcrowding? NO!!!

NP. Not the person to whom you're replying.
So, if Braband goes, we get another person who has to have a learning curve. If he's all that disastrous, have you attended public meetings and called him out on specifics? Written letters? Presented numbers or quorted from reports? Organized parents at your child's specific school to write and speak about overcrowding and it's day to day impact on your children? If so, I applaud you. I really do. If not: Why post here? He's not reading this. No one on the board is reading it. "Throw the bums out" sounds active but is just foaming at the mouth uselessly unless it's followed by concrete and specific action. Can you detail your activism for us and provide specifics of impacts of Braband's and the board's shortcomings on your child's learning?

The Auditor General did her job and was retaliated against in return.?

Strauss, Hynes and Evans were complicit in the retaliation. No wonder they retired; they must have known it was only a matter of time before this complaint would be filed. And no wonder they neglected their other duties. They were too busy covering up for Garza and Platenberg.

Good riddance to all three.

What are you even talking about? The heat or a/c would be on from 8am-4pm with Cenergistics. The issue I had was that in the summer or on hot days before school let out, the a/c would be turned off at 4pm. Custodians were expected to work in unacceptable heat. We would have to do an override.

Cenergistic seems to have an Elizabeth Holmes vibe and seems completely fake. “Cenergistic uses a variety of tools (including a proprietary software product) to make its client’s energy use more efficient.”

This is jaw-dropping. WaPo where are you?

Can’t believe this is not a WaPo front story. And somebody needs to FOIA all emails about Cenergistic from the School Board and inside FCPS.

So if Platenburg was on the take from Cenergistic when he was in LCPS, it suggests to me the Cenergistic got Garza to choose him for his FCPS role so he could bring them in. Can we FOIA the results of the investigation that resulted in Garza’s resignation 2 days later?

FCPS appears to be riddled with corruption. No wonder its facilities management is such a complete shit show.

Wow, thanks for posting. Those are some serious bombshells. Kudos to Trump (god, I never thought I would type those words in my lifetime) for fighting back.

Amen. This is outrageous. Given Cenergistics' history of paying bribes to school officials, this is the last company that FCPS should have been contracting with.

Jeff Platenberg and John Foster should both be terminated immediately for cause.

Karen Garza should be sued by the county or state, and past compensation paid to her should be clawed back.

Former School Board members Janie Strauss, Pat Hynes and Sandy Evans should be ashamed of themselves for actively seeking to prevent an investigation of fraud and waste within FCPS and not objecting to the retaliation against the Auditor General. They were worse than useless School Board members.

I really do not see how a School Board can approve or execute any Capital Improvement Plan prepared by Platenberg while these allegations of impropriety surround him. The new School Board ought to audit his procurement decisions (for example, the sudden decision in 2018 to increase the expansion of under-enrolled Langley HS from 2100 students to 2370 students, which lined the pockets of the contractor on that project).
