Np Don't do it. My friend said her sister got coal from Santa and it ruined Christmas for everyone. Discipline your child but, please leave Santa out of it. I think you will regret it if you do.

Agreed. On a parenting page I belong to there is a mom always posting this kind of stuff about her son who has serious learning disabilities and emotional issues. She is always crowd sourcing ways to humiliate/punish him. In the years of her posting, she has never once ever said a kind word about this child. She supposedly has a back ground in special ed. It always gets to me when parents of children with disabilities don't realize that the kids didn't choose to have those disabilities.

I’m Christian, and withholding discipline IS withholding love. But you know this already. The lord disciplines those he loves; he that spares the rod spoils his child.
OP needs to be creative in showing discipline and love. No one is offering anything helpful here though.

Just tell him he can’t play with his gifts. Let him open them. Then you take them and put them into a box. Give him the box when he is off of restriction.
Yeah, it will suck, but so what, so does parenting sometimes. Keep the long view - wherever he did - he won’t do it again.
My mom used to say the things we hated about our punishment made us hate all punishment enough to avoid the crime and follow rules. The idea of jail terrified me. My mom said if I get locked up, don’t call her because she won’t come get me. She told this to me and my brother.
It worked. Well, at least for one of us. It won’t work if you do it all the time about every little stupid thing.
So how bad is the crime? That determines the time.
