HAHAHA Creative essays. They don't even read most of the essays.
Admissions counselor here.

I think that’s more what’s making me nervous- her certainty. I wish she were more open to the possibility that it may or may not happen. Let it be over already.
Is she hooked? How can anyone not hooked be sure. Weird.

That’s my point. She knows that yet believes, without a doubt, that she’ll definitely get in. Perhaps just a front to hide her anxiety from me- she does not like to show any weakness. Very insular. Even my husband, who has hardly been engaged in the process at all and can only tolerate headline news, is worried about her mental wellbeing if things do not go her way. Ugh.
To answer the PP who said it may not be over- I think the first shock is the worst, no? At least I hope so.

I’m just sick with worry

Well by the end of the day, she will either believe in the power of positive thinking or have learned a different lesson.
Has she applied elsewhere, or do kids who do ED wait until they hear to possibly do other apps? Do they order transcripts ahead of time for the schools they would apply to? My DC didn't do ED so I don't know how it works. He did EA but also other applications for RD.

First is likely the worst. One advantage is that as ED/EA there are no/fewer other schools that could have bad news around now.
The big disadvantage we are worried about is how much would a Chicago rejection kill enthusiasm for competitive RD applications.
