But, I registered him with the provider and paid the $100 registration fee so I can use the service in situations like this. I just got a text that the before care is opening on time and I can drop him at the usual time. Check to see if your school’s before care has that option.

Did you just move here from Florida or something? Conditions are getting better as it switches over to all rain. It's mostly just wet outside. Go slow. You'll be ok.

My manager is forcing me to take vacation time because my kids school is closed. He has no empathy that I am a single mom and that i have no back up today for this kind of thing. Why didn’t OPM foresee the weather delay for its employees outside of DC? They could have offered a delay or telework, but here we are again. No one thinks of caregivers or their families. A pathetic response. And one clearly made by males that don’t think outside the box on these things. Women in my position are shafted once again.
I hear you, but, uh, you know the director of OPM is a woman, right?
At least now you do.
Female managers are sometimes worse than males. Because they want to prove they aren’t weak or whatever. Especially the ones without children or someone to care for.
Or they are just organized people who think ahead and arrange for the care of their dependents without expecting special treatment.
I was a single mom of two for many years. Schools aren’t babysitters. Backup childcare is not a luxury. We ate a lot of cheap meals and wore thrift store clothing to be able to include backup care in our budget because you pay for it anyway if your pay is docked for missed hours.
