They stopped being as physical because they got tired and the 9 on UVA stayed bulky but got no calls

Yes UVA was tired. By the 2nd 1/2, all three UVA defenders had a yellows. If any of the three got another card, UVA would been a man down. Playing a man down on burnt out legs is no the way to go through life(or win a game).

Anyone know how the combined number of kids from the DMV, starting or not starting, were on UVA and Georgetown rosters?

There was some loose defending in that game.

And some rough defending by UVA as well. Hard professional fouls that were a second late and deserved cards.

It was an interesting game to watch. UVA's 9 was a beast who just bulled over people then cried for a foul. GT had some nice combinations to finish.
UVA won the game when it was physical and lost when it was finesse. That surprised me as I expected UVA to win with better finesse, but they played to their perceived strength I guess.

As to the PKs, the bloked PK Gunnarson took wasnt great but was not as bad as several from GT and UVA before it that went down the middle and were unsaved only because the GK guessed wrong. Gunnarson just had the bad luck to have a GK guess right finally.
At that point as that end showed PKs are a coin toss and not really any distinguisher of heart, skill, courage, or anything other than luck.
We've lost the value of a tie in a search to see who is "the best".

UVA had to play a less physical game because by the second 1/2 their back 3 all had cards.

exactly

did Messi choke yesterday on his whiff? was it a bad paced pass? did it curl unexpectedly? none of that matters, the only choker are those that walk away from the chance

agreed a lot of talkers not players on these boards

UVA does have a reputation as historical chokers. A reputation that really is wrong: Stick stayed 4 years and never backed down, never did not want the ball at the end, hit game winners, blocked game winners, and ran into some immortal teams in the Wolfpack, UNC and then as a pro against immortal Celtics teams and hit game winners in the finals against them.

Sometimes you lose, that doesnt mean you choke.

In the soccer game, UVA came from being down to lead, UVA didnt choke. And GT came back on their own merit. Same with PKs.

People who throw the choke word around rarely want the ball or responsibility and their teammates dont want to give it to them. Usually its the big mouth small game end of bench guy on a team that can't help his mouth from running. Lots of those never was guys on this board.

imploding? kicking 3 idiots off the team and winning all the games since is not imploding. Nice try, hope you enjoyed GW

Uva chokes...that is what they are known for

UVA did not choke. That's ridiculous. It was an excellent game and 3-3 at the end of regulation. UVA also made it into the second round of PKs before Georgetown's keeper became the hero.

It’s a consistent pattern with all UVa sports going back many years. Just ask Ralph Sampson.

Except for the 4 mens soccer championships they have and the men’s b-ball championship from last year, right? Oh... you forgot about those ...

Ralph had to deal with a team with Worthy, Perkins and Jordan. Not winning it all is not a choke when that crew is the one you have to get past. Spare us the Chaminade stuff, too.

I did not think the Hoyas keeper was the hero. Rather, as nice as the prior PKs were from both sides, I really felt the UVA kid had a poor PK to end it. I had a feeling he'd bonk it. He looked unsure when he approached and set the ball down.

4 idiots. We went to the Syracuse game on Saturday and georgetown looked great and led the whole game.

The soccer game was exciting to watch. And PKs when both teams have scored multiple goals doesn’t seem as bad as after a 0-0 game.
