Because undergrad is soooo hard (especially if parents pay for everything)it’s basically a 4 year spring break with classes mixed in

We started asking that question in September.
By October, we made it clear that if December came without a job, break would be 100% about sending out resumes.
In early November, we described that 100% meant that DC would be on a parental sleep schedule and working with a parent continuously, to get a summer job.
DC arrived home last night with the paperwork for a great summer job.
Except for Christmas morning with my parents, DC can sleep every minute for the next 4 weeks with my blessing.
If history is any guide, DC will sleep the morning away for about a week and then their schedule will normalize to get up about 9 and go to bed about 1 am.

and it can't have been more than a few days...
My kid hasn't even started exams yet.
It's almost like colleges - gasp! - have different schedules! My older kid is on a quarter system schedule and has been home since the Tuesday before Thanksgiving, so over two weeks now. And she'll go back the weekend after New Year's Day for the start of winter quarter. My younger finishes his last final a week from today, but then doesn't go back until January 26th. And no, I'm not OK with either of them being complete blobs for the entire 5/6 week break. A week of vegging is fine, but after that -- help out around the house, pick up some hours at your high school job, apply to jobs/internships if you haven't already solidified something for the summer, etc.
