That's called a liquid diet, not fasting. Fasting, which is a compulsion in many religions and cultures, does not include food and usually doesn't even include plain water. Broth and electrolytes are called a liquid diet, not fasting.
NP I am from Europe and there we primarily use the Buchinger therapeutic fasting method. Up to 200calories are allowed. It is a well know program. Nobody calls it a liquid diet. The famous bone broth is the highlight of the day.

48 hours is really nothing for a food fast.
