Lol, they were both just trying to make an otherwise boring conversation funny and interesting. Yes, they were both acting! Surprise! That's what they do in Hollywood!
Anonymous wrote:Yup...she should have said "sorry boomer" and I'm a boomer. Ellen is obnoxious trying to act like she is funny when she is just rude/gay/ and passive aggressive.

Publicly scolding her for not inviting her to a party? First of all, that's just weird and really rude. Trying to disguise it as a joke doesn't make it not rude or weird.
And second, what was Dakota supposed to say to that, that wouldn't be awkward??

I'm pretty sure that the guest is given a heads up as to what they'll be talking about before they even go on stage. They needed to talk about something they had in common and could carry on a conversation about and the bday party was the hot ticket.
Of course this stuff is staged. I'm not saying they walk into those interviews with a script in hand but they know what they'll be discussing in advance. This whole thing is a total nonissue, move along.
Exactly what I was thinking. It was definitely staged. Dakota was probably given a heads-up - “Hey, we’re going to talk about the bday party invite and I’ll get faux mad at you, etc”. It just turned out a little awkward and forced. Not a big deal.

Ellen has a pretty bad reputation the industry.
Ellen is the creepiest passive aggressive boomer. She seriously grosses me out. How does nobody see her for the evil mean-spirited creep that she is?
