When you said it was fur-lined, I thought "she must be crazy if she thinks it won't be warm enough. Also crazy to buy a fur-lined coat for a toddler". But I see it's just fleece. It should be fine (and you're not crazy).

I agree with the other posters about your NF jacket being enough. Mine wears a thin fleece jacket that stays on all day in winters and then a jacket to go outside.

You should be fine. Licensed daycares/preschools will have rules about when they go and don't go outside.


Most schools and daycares around here don't go outside if it's under 32 degrees. So your kid should be totally fine in that coat.

Remember a few things:

When kids are outside they are MOVING. So they stay warmer than we do. I think the coat you have is fine. Make sure she has mittens and a warm hat. Then make sure you have some warm pants (no leggings) for the cold days and your DD should be just fine.

My 3 year old wears a light puffer all winter. We layer up with sweatshirts if we need too, but he just runs hot and doesn't like a bulky coat. My older kid loves a big huge warm coat. So YMMV.

PP here: Just looked at the link again, and she should be fine without a hat if she’ll keep the hood up and zipped.

Kids warm up quickly running around on the playground, so that coat should be fine.
