My daughter has a January birthday. For things like bikes and other outdoor things we give it on the last day of the school year.

My November kid gets a “real” present in the $20-40 range for his BD and 1 fewer presents at his real BD than we would normally buy. Our July BD kid gets some token $5 / Target Dollar Spot gift for his half BD. Both kids get a cupcake or donut with a candle and pick the dinner menu their half-BD.

Yes. My son’s BD is mid-November. He just got soccer goals, a ball and cones. We’ll get him an indoor toy for Christmas. He gets bikes and scooters from his older brother who has a summer BD, so we haven’t dealt with seasonality for those things.

I have a friend who was born on Dec. 24 and her mother decorated one room in birthday decorations--nothing remotely related to Christmas-- and she always got the requisite number of birthday presents as her brother whose birthday is in summer.

Never, ever, give combo Birthday-Christmas presents!

We haven’t actually done this, but our plan is that on Dec 27 (my kid’s birthday) we’ll let my kid choose dinner and all eat together and wish him a happy birthday and have a cake, and then on his 1/2 birthday do presents and a kid party if he wants one, and choose dinner again but probably some kind of silly “1/2” cake.

With my other kids who were born far from Christmas, we always do a special 1/2 birthday dinner (basically we let my kids
Pick the meal) on their 1/2 birthday.

I had a December birthday. Friends rarely came to my parties. It’s a really rough birthday. My parents made Christmas bigger for both of us, to help deemphasize the birthday.
