I'd use an app like Spot Hero to reserve a garage space. Yes, there are private commercial garages in that area but they can be a bit hidden if you don't know the area well. Use an app or site and you'll have a reserved space and directions to a garage rather than circling blocks looking for garage entrances.

And street parking can be quite time-limited IF you even get it--two hours is not enough time for a decent museum outing. You'll spend a chunk of that time just going to and from the car.

I hate having to have apps for stuff; with Spot Hero you do not have to load an app unless you want to. You can also book with just their web site.

If you arrive before 10, I’ve never had a problem parking right in front at natural history. There is construction at air and space and no parking on independence.
