His response was: It's nice to be loved. Hold on to that feeling. I said: you hold on and he said he will. I asked if everything I felt was only on my side and he said no. He asked me to call him the next day (today) and said Nite Sweetie. Anybody ever done this and what happened? I am relieved I got this out of the way.

Personally, your texts sound emotionally manipulative to me.
Understand where you are coming from. I know about love bombing all too well. So far, seen many success stories on the replies. But I understand your concern.
You have to know that saying your first I love you via txt is just pathetic, right?

What's the saying - you'll regret the things you didn't do? That's me when it comes to this. She got away, and I never said it. Not that it would have changed anything, but I would have wanted her to know.
That being said, I would probably just let it be, and let him process it. If you press him on it, or force him to talk about it, he may feel trapped.
I'm happy for you, OP. Life is short.
