21:53 - I've never seen that at all and I've been a soccer parent at 3 levels of soccer (rec, travel, in-between) and a coach in the last 6 years. The boys' games I've seen generate SO much more yelling, negative and positive, than the girls' games. I don't know if that's because the boys themselves are more vocal (especially when they score) or not, but at the girls' games, it's generally pretty social. We've had a couple of games with obnoxious parents on the sidelines, but it's typically 1 game per 8-game season, which isn't too bad.

My son did a season on travel basketball last year (6th grade) and I thought it was very calm. The only time it got a little tense was when we played in this one gym that was TIGHT. The parents were right on the out of bound lines and it was a close game. All the other games were very relaxed on the parent side.

Premier Athletics club based out of Falls Church, VA. They are a smaller club but have a few really good teams. Their boys U-13 team is ranked higher than some area ECNL teams.

Maybe. Baseball parents are pretty crazy too. I think parents of girls (at least on this forum) are much sicker than boys. I hadn't suspected that until seeing it here. You can't have a simple conversation, share any experience. Girl soccer brings out a special breed of crazy.

Poor kid, though. I hear clubs say this sort of thing but I have never heard of a club actually cutting a player because of a parent.

He sent her away from the field because she ran on the field to console an injured player. After the game we talked with the other teams parents. Many were glad. their coach sent off the parent, They were all saying she deserved it and has been a problem all year at every game. Jm not sure how things are run over at PAC. I know our club would drop the kid if the parent was a season long problem.

yelling is not always negative, then yes, of course it's problem in general.
i don't mind the positive yelling, encouragement and some loose guidance (not play-by-play joy stick). shesh, soccer isn't suppose to be like golf or tennis; cheering is part of the fun.

Our top team has a cabal of dads/moms who are all way into soccer, and they constantly joystick their kids playing techniques. The girls look to the dads for instruction, rather than the coach. I'd rather my kid learn their soccer technique by making mistakes and adjusting for the next situation.

The only thing I'll yell at our team (I'm a parent and an assistant coach) is to spread out. Because they have a tendency to bunch up, despite us telling them 1,000,000 times in practice to spread out, and they don't realize they are doing it, and it has directly contributed to some losses for us. We yell "spread out," and they do it and sometimes they even stay spread out. We'll also tell a girl she is off-sides so she can get on-side before the ref whistles.

The other thing I hear a lot of is "great idea!" or "nice try" or "good save, Goalie!" We try to keep it positive.

Our coach is not a yeller, which is one reason we like him.
