That's the same bird, I just took two photos. The other one is a lovebird for sure, I know what they look like.
From my limited research yesterday I understand that lovebirds cannot be with other birds? On account of aggressiveness and territorial thing or whatever? And that they need to be with other lovebirds to be happy?

That was troll advice anyway. Where do you live? You can always give them to a shelter. Or, do you think your friend is (falsely) hoping to get them back once he gets back from aboard or finds a different place to live?
