^ point being some progressive changes are doable and should happen but going too far too fast will not be helpful longer term.

“Gun control, right to work repeal, minimum wage hike, tenants’ rights, school equity.”

If Ds make the mistake of trying to turn VA into MD it will be a brief two years rather than a long term shift....

My sense is there were a handful of agenda items:

- gun control
- environmental proctetion
- education funding
- election protection/gerrymandering
- Healthcare
- Equal Rights Amendment has been floating out there

+1 to all of these.

I agree with the above list, but the order wouldn't be my priority. But I support all.

My answer: gun control. In fact I will be pissed if they focus on anything else off the bat and squander this opportunity.

How about getting rid of the disbarred pedophile y’all elected to Senate?

Re-districting/gerrymandering first. There needs to be time to get it through the courts before the next round of elections.

Drawing better congressional districts/fixing gerrymandering. Then gun control.

Taxes are low in Virginia. This gives us an enormous opportunity to go for universal healthcare. Higher tax states (California) can't accomplish it because they are already starting from a high rate. If we increased our income taxes by 2 percentage points, which would still make our taxes cheaper than DC and Maryland, we could go a long way toward a state-administered health system.

This is a good list, and gun control belongs at the top. I think workers' rights and marijuana legalization (even "just" medical, something beyond the ridiculous current situation that merely mitigates your punishment if you're caught, and only if caught with the "right" kind -- special oil) should be on the agenda as well.

Eliminate the Dillon Rule.

Dillon Rule, which the Virginia Supreme Court adopted in 1896, is a legal principle that local governments have limited authority, and can pass ordinances only in areas where the General Assembly (which meets in the state capitol in Richmond) has granted clear authority

Hopefully common sense gun control. Also, ending the gerry mandering and redrawing districts.

But yes, they need to pass the ERA. It's beyond horrible that it hasn't been ratified yet.

Depending on the type of gun control laws passed in VA it will be interesting to see if the state is sued in order to get issue to go to US Supreme Court. If the Dems are smart they won’t go overboard.
