Yes, it's original. The car is 2013 and has 50,000 miles on it so maybe?

Rather than taking it to the shop, you should've just changed the battery. Walmart, surprisingly, sell good batteries. Hope they don't charge you too much. Good luck

$200 for the new battery and labor. Considering I have no tools, knowledge or space to do it (a woman living in a condo) I'd say it's fair.

But even the mechanic said companies are making it harder to replace these parts yourself because they want to make money on maintenance and repairs.

I replaced a battery myself that I had bought at autozone. When it failed I stopped at the autozone on Georgia ave, as the guy was ringing me up for a new battery, he asked for my phone number for a warranty. I said "I bought the last one here, maybe that's still under warranty" It was. Not only did dude give met the new one for free, he came out to my car and put it in for me.

If you don't know how to test either of these, then take it to a shop or the dealership to have them look it over. You can take it to a place like Pep Boys or a generic service shop to have them test the starter and ignition for you. Many of them don't charge you for the evaluation, only for repairs if they find something.

Agree it is probably starter or ignition

Could just be old battery gone bad. Newer cars have a voltage meter, if voltage drops below a certain threshold, it won't turn over. However, your AC, radio, nav may still work. I've a had a few cases where if you turn off absolutely everything, turn off ac/fan, turn off all interior lights, turn off radio/nav etc, you just might get the car started as turning off those devices leaves more "juice" for the starter to start your car, assuming your old battery has gone just a "little" bad. Best thing is to get your car jump started, got to advance auto parts or autozone, they'll check your battery and alternator and if need be, change your battery for approx $150 or so right there, its a 10-15 minute process.

Best of luck.

Yes, Fords are just bad vehicles.

I wouldn’t purchase one ever again.

If you have AAA, they will come out, test the battery, and replace it if needed at a reasonable price. They will give you a good warranty on the battery as well.

Any mechanic shop can test this. You can also find an Autozone, advance auto or similar. They will test the battery for you and can sell and install a replacement.

Beware sometimes the batteries test “good” according to the machine but they are really only holding a surface charge from getting jump started.

Well, yeah, in that case I'd agree... At least it's fixed and didn't cost you too much.
