It is an amazing show. I have no clue how people are confused. What is confusing?!

IMO the show is well done even w/o knowing the backstory, but I can understand confusion if you aren't familiar with the backstory of the comic. In a way, I feel this is partly why this show may struggle reaching the top tier viewing status. It certainly has the acting and story to put it up there with some of the best. I hope they do at least 2-3 more seasons to pull it all together. They could easily have spin-off seasons on the Minutemen, agent Blake and Hooded Justice.

This episode was better.

To be honest, I've always liked her as an actress but I never thought she was a brilliant as people think - but she's *really* good in this!

I am wondering about how the producers will eventually handle the repressive aspects of the police. They remind me of brutal law enforcement in some Central American countries where the police are more of a gang than a formal institution governed by the rule of law. It will be interesting to see how that plays out.

How is this any different than modern day policing in the US? What checks and balances exist to ensure LE aren't a defacto legalized gang working for the state?

I’m not really liking it.

It’s pushing all of the politics buttons that I should like and I’m glad it’s pushing them but I’m just not buying it, I’m not invested in the characters and I’m bored by the plot.

Some episodes are more linear and easy to understand than others.

This is such an amazing show! If Regina King doesn’t get an Emmy Hollywood is completely stupid.

Not surprising since the exec producer was one of the main guys in charge of Lost.

This makes a lot of sense.. I will keep watching and hopefully at least some stuff will get a back story but episode 2 or 3. I love Regina King so I am intrigued

I was also a bit confused. Like the squids, was I suppose to understand what that was about or will it be revealed? And that random weird rich guy and his weird household staff? I googled a few things but could hardly follow the synopsis of previous Watchmen stuff.

I assume it’ll all be revealed, especially since they know they have an audience who’s new to the Watchmen narrative. The squids were probably a reference to something that happened in the book, but that was a hoax, so I’m looking forward to seeing how it translates into real squids falling from the sky.

As for the rich guy, that’s a mystery to book-readers too. Speculation is that he’s an important character from the book, but there was a prominent headline early in the episode that said that character was dead. So, who knows?

When it was clear this was a sequel of sorts, not a direct adaptation, DH and I wondered if it would follow up on the movie or the book. Then it started raining squids, and the giant squid wasn’t in the movie at all...so, book it is! (I didn’t like the movie either.)
