You never take any pictures or videos of your kids playing? Ever?
Of course I have some. But the phone epidemic at playgrounds is just tragic. Mostly photos. What is the point of filming your child at the playground? I’m assuming not everyone’s spouse is deployed. If you’re filming to post on social media, just put that thing away and engage with your child. Seriously, it’s a sickness.

You know, some of us have spouses who are in the military and absolutely love seeing videos or pictures of their kids at the playground. I'm sorry you can't have any empathy for someone who may be recording a moment on a phone. Scrolling through the internet instead of watching your child behave badly at the park and filming your kid are not the same thing, so chill out a bit. Also, you have no idea what the person scrolling the internet is doing. Perhaps they're trying to find a mental health professional to help them or researching chemo options for their parents. Seriously, the level of anger you have at people you don't know is not healthy. Try taking a deep breath next time and acknowledging that you have no idea why someone is doing something that you wouldn't do and remembering that it doesn't affect you and perhaps they're going through something. Just try it.
I know why they are doing it. Phone addiction. It’s rude and terrible for your kid. And I don’t think the phone needs to be out 24/7 in your hand to get 15 seconds of video for a deployed spouse. And research stuff on your phone when your kid is not around. Like at night. Some of us don’t use playground time or other time with our kids as a phone research opportunity.

pot, meet kettle. lol. i'm sure all of these parents taking nonstop pictures of their kids on the playground, interrupting their kid's play, are doing it so their military spouse won't forget what their child looks like. most common reason for sure.
