There are some 06/07 kids training there but their "full" FCV teams practice in Loudon. I am sure StJ is trying to grow their Fairfax player footprint.
I think they have done "clinics" for other teams but I am pretty sure only StJ soccer teams practice there.
We are going to look at their futsal squad for the Winter NCSL league - looks like Gus Donolo leads their academy with five other coaches.
How is he leading futsal there when he is supposed to be leading DC United academy futsal? And he is also supposed to be leading Puma elite or does that not exist anymore
Gus is pretty busy during the winter.
Practices are not 5 nights per week. He uses the entire week and staggers sessions.
Puma Elite = Soccer the Brazilian Way --> Both feed off of FCV.
DCU is closer to home for him. He also has some teams he works with up in Md that are not listed here.
Gus knows his stuff and is very good.
We've heard great things about Gus and his futsal training but with that much on his plate, he must have other coaches who work with him. Any of them any good or is it just him?
He has a couple other coaches working with him, one has been with him a long, long time. He build all the programming and the other guys just run it, but do a good job as they know Gus' system.
Gus is good, but he’s absent a lot due to his schedule. The other coaches are fair, but not worth the time and money. Have your kid play in a pickup Futsal league or practice skills at home. That’s my take on my kid going thru multiple years of Futsal, one with Gus’s program.
Unfortunately all true. Gus is terrific but not around nearly enough and those he has standing in are just that-coaches standing around. Better options out there for that kind of money.
