BRYC, McLean and/or Loudoun

as PP said above. If your DD isn’t top 3 girls in her team then it’s a small chance

Not Loudoun. Most of the red team has been promoted to the ECNL team in the past. The others may be different.

"...in the past....." funny. Loudoun has only had ECNL for what, two years now? Hardly a track record to draw conclusions from. If the girl is good enough to make the team, they will. I can't imagine any DA/ECNL club would turn away a talent that was worthy of a spot. If the "new girl" is about the same as some of the existing lower team players from the club, I could imagine they'd promote from within versus take external, but who knows.....

It’s a fact. Did it change with the 2007s? Please share your wisdom, oh great one.

PS, it was the same way in making their top teams previously. They are insular. They do have a strange obsession with trying to pry away FCV players, though, which usually doesn’t work out too well for them.

The 2007s did add from outside the club. They evaluated a number of girls and gave offers to at least one (who joined). And you've got the whole FCV-> Loudoun thing backwards.....FCV is (and has always since they had ECNL previously....) always looking to add Loudoun kids.

The fact is that the Loudoun ECNL teams are predominantly just the former red teams, renamed. The point was not to say Loudoun won't accept outsiders, just that the odds are stacked in the favor of the current red team players at the u12 level.

The fact also is that the TD has an obsession with wrestling FCV girls away to Loudoun. If you are at Loudoun and don't know this, I'm shocked; you need to pay much more attention. Unless you already know and are trying to throw those who don't off the scent.

Wait didn't FCV 07 DA just add 2 Loudoun players this year? One from the Red team and one from Black.

It goes both ways. Are you saying that Loudoun doesn't try to poach FCV players? Like the u14 who is there who was with FCV DA last year?

The poster asked about U13. No one knows what will happen at U16 because we have yet to reach that point since we have so many more ECNL teams competing for players.

Let's see how they look at u16. My bet is it will be 75% different at that point.

You posted the same thing on the 08 Girls thread. Posting the same thing on multiple threads doesn't make it any more true.... VSA is holding its own against local competition, but is hardly a top tier regional or national team, much less a "powerhouse."

Last spring LMVSC (now SYC) beat McLean in a tournament. Just an FYI. They are more than ok

SYC is ok but no where in the same level as VSA or even Arlington like PP said Arlington 2008 had a tough group stage but top teams and names will always be Mclean, Loudoun, and Arlington.

These 6 teams BRYC, Loudoun, McLean, FCV, Arlington and the soon to form VDA are all pretty close together in strength at the U12 2008 age. Sure there are some that are a little better but there is not one dominant team that would beat all the other teams every time they play. I think there may be a little back and forth between Arlington and McLean next year based on geography as well as FCV and Loudoun. All of the teams may pick up a player or 2 from non-DA/ECNL teams but there really aren't that many soccer super stars out there not already on one of these teams. People commenting that only the top 3 players will be on the team next year must not have younger players. With all the dilution in this area that type of thing isn't going to happen anymore.

I would guess if you are a starter you are safe to make the team. Your DD may lose their starting role but probably won't be cut. There are way too many DA and ECNL teams out there for a team to completely clean house like they did back in the old days. With so many options out there now in the ECNL (BRYC, VDA, McLean and Loudoun) as well as DA (FCV and Arlington) I believe at the U13 age parents will still stay close to home with friends unless there is a reason to leave. As they get closer to the recruiting years at U15 I think kids will want to be on a stronger team so they get more looks by college coaches if they want to play at the next level.

McLean 2007 team is almost completely the same team they were at U12.
