Maybe at Cabin John. Not at our low-rent, non W Middle School.

It's very hard to monitor. Your child has AT LEAST one or two accounts that you don't know about. I promise you. The best thing is to not give your child a smartphone.
I have a high schooler and in 7th grade he did not have a phone, and was not on social media. Actually, even now, he isn't on social media.
Please don't generalize, PP, it makes you look stupid.
Wow, that's rude. DP here but my kids and just about all of her friends were on social media, including Instagram at that age. From my perspective, that is more the norm.
I’m not the PP, but that PP wasn’t being rude at all. What about her post feels rude?
She was just pointing out that not all kids are on social media in MS. And that PP’s generalizations are incorrect.

In 7th grade?
I have a 7th grader at a different MS and she’s not on social media.
I spend a ton of time driving her and her friends all over and they rarely talk about social media stuff.
I know by HS this will change, but I don’t think every 12/13 year old is on Instagram.

No, I'm OP and my kid is in 7th grade. He's very active online and hasn't heard of anything.
I find it very concerning that police were involved. That sounds like it's much more than regular middle school stupidity.
Eh. MCPS has a history of involving the police for anything that is even remotely racially offensive. (While at the same time, not involving the police when kids are reporting sexual abuse - as in the Damascus rape case).
I wouldn’t read too much into the fact that police were called.
Could you back up your statement that MCPS has a history of involving police for anything that is even remotely racially offensive?
I think police involvement has to do with the threat. Not necessarily the racism.
